Our trip to Lotherton Hall
Today Year One visited Lotherton Hall to link to our Science learning about 'animals and their habitats'. We had a guided tour of the wildlife area. We learned that penguins have spiky tongues to help them grip the fish that they eat! We also learned that flamingos are pink because of the shrimp that they eat, baby flamingos are not pink!
We also had a workshop to find out more about habitats. We know that animals need food, water and shelter in order to survive, and that animals can live underground, above ground and in trees.
It was lovely weather so we had our lunch on the picnic benches outside and we were lucky enough to spend some time in the playground too. We loved the zipline the most!

Smoothie Making with our families
Year 1 have been learning about keeping ourselves healthy. We know it is important to have a healthy body and a healthy mind. A balanced diet is crucial to keeping our bodies healthy, along with plenty of exercise. A good bedtime routine, keeping hydrated and understanding how to show ourselves gratitude can all help keep our minds healthy. Today we invited our families in to make healthy smoothies with us. We enjoyed cutting and blending the fruits, but most of all we loved tasting them!
