Our trip to Saltaire
The Year 6 children really enjoyed their visit to the World Heritage Site of Saltaire. They listened carefully to a lady in character from the 1850s, who helped them understand what life was like in the village and explained both the positive and negative sides of Sir Titus Salt’s work. The children were given the names of people who once lived in Saltaire and enjoyed exploring the village to find where those people would have lived. To support their geography learning, the children also completed a range of fieldwork activities, which have been used back in class to support and deepen their learning.
Maria, our host, commented on the respectful nature of the children and their eagerness to learn which as always, was lovely to hear.

Our Residential
Year 6 recently enjoyed an extremely cold but fun-filled three days on their residential. They battled the elements and wrapped up warm to enjoy lots of outdoor activities including zip lining, high ropes, night line, orienteering, bush craft and archery. They were able to defrost a little when it came to the bouldering and labyrinth which took them back inside. The children were a credit to school and each group worked together as a team to solve problems, achieve new things and support each other. They even made their own beds and packed lunches each day! We look forward to seeing the same determination and resilience back in the classroom. Well done year6!

Our Learning Showcase
In art we have been creating collages based on the work of German artist Kurt Schwitters and American artist Derek Gores. Both artists used collage techniques to create their work. We have linked this work to our history learning about the Industrial Revolution: our aim was to create an image which portrayed pre- and post industrialisation
