Our trip to Saltaire
Year 6 enjoyed a trip to Saltaire to support their learning about the Industrial Revolution. We listened to an engaging talk about the history Saltaire and the people who used to live there. We found out some interesting facts about Sir Titus Salt and his influence over the people of the village.
We were all given a bookmark about a character who used to live in the village and following the talk we went to find the house they used to live in. We learnt that different families lived in different types of houses depending on how important they were.
We also spent some time looking around Saltaire and found a statue of the alpacas in Robert’s Park as well as a statue of Sir Titus Salt. In Salt’s Mill we looked around the 1853 Gallery at the work of David Hockney. This will help us with our art work later in the term.
I enjoyed the talk by Maria because I got to role play and learn about the characters living during the time of Titus Salt. (Andre)
I liked going and finding where my character lived because it was interesting. My character lived on Victoria Street in a medium sized house. (Ebony)

Welcome to Year 6
Your final year at Farfield Primary & Nursery School will be a learning adventure! Year 6 is taught by Mrs Brannan, Mrs Carver and Miss Griffin and is supported by Mrs Sykes, Miss Raper and Mr Macfarlane. Classes are also covered by Mrs Brierley and Miss Keeley, and we are also lucky to have Seth teach one of our PE lessons. It is really important that we support learning in every way we can - in school this might be through additional intervention sessions and at home this is through half termly homework projects and 3x weekly timestable practise and reading. Homework projects can be found on our Curriculum Letter which is shared here on the year 6 page each half term as well as on Class Dojo. Our PE days are Monday and Wednesday and as in all year groups children should come to school dressed ready for these lessons. We have a virtual author visit planned for the first half term. After October half term we also have our residential trip to Waddow Hall. In the spring we are planning a trip to Saltaire and in the summer a trip to the seaside. Our year will end with our Graduation - a celebration of your child and their time in Year 6.
