  • Brathay Trust Online Safety for UKS2

    Mon 24 Apr 2023

Today the Brathay Trust visited year 5 and 6 to deliver their BeSavy workshops. BeSavy stands for Be Safe and Value Yourself. The session was to raise awareness around how young people can keep themselves safe online.

First children looked at the age limit for the most popular apps then they discussed how to stay safe online.

In 6M, Sienna said she knows she must not share personal details online. What surprised Jorgie was how many little details someone can find out about you even without you giving any personal information away. She realised she may need to be more careful online.

  • 420 TREES PLANTED!

    Mon 24 Apr 2023

As part of The Woodland Trust's free trees for schools, over the last week the children of Farfield have planted a further 420 trees around our school grounds.

The aim of the project is to make sure everybody in the UK has the chance to plant a tree as the UK needs millions more trees to reach its 2050 carbon net-zero target. Hundreds of thousands of trees have been given to schools and communities to get millions more trees in the ground.

With the help of Mr Clark, the children have planted a combination of hedge, copse and wild harvest saplings. We look forward to seeing them grow and how they change our school grounds.

  • Creepy-Crawly Creatures in Nursery!

    Thu 20 Apr 2023

As part of our learning about ‘Awesome Animals’, we had some creepy-crawly visitors in Nursery! Steph from Creature Connections brought in a selection of minibeasts. We saw African woodlice, hissing cockroaches, stick insects, Giant African Land Snails, giant millipedes, a stag beetle grub and even a tarantula!

Here’s what some of the children thought about their experience:

“Some of the woodlice have orange on them because they ate carrots!” – Daniel

“It looks like a stick!” – Scarlett

“It has hundreds of legs, it feels like a hairbrush” – Nicholas

“They’re not too scary!” – Rhys

    “It’s a spider” – Jasmine

  • Spring Attendance Winners

    Mon 17 Apr 2023

A huge congratulations to Jake and Naomi who were the 2 winners of our ATTNEDANCE PRIZE for the Spring Term!
Both Jake and Naomi had their name in the draw to win a shopping trip to buy a new bike, complete with helmet and lock.
There were 216 children in total with attendance at 96%+, all of whom had their name in the draw. This is even more than there were in the Autumn Term.
Well done to all those who are trying hard to attend on time every day!
The challenge has started again today. Remember - every day really does count!
