Whole School Assembly - Introducing Aromatic Authors
Tue 27 Feb 2024Today's whole school assembly with Adam focused on a new writing project called 'Aromatic Authors' with local poet and author Matt Abbott. It was all about making our writing more interesting by adding lots of different ingredients, like a chef does to make food tasty. He talked about how this can be applied to everything in life. Making the most out of every lesson and opportunity will help us to enjoy life to its fullest.

Whole School Assembly - Individual Liberty
Mon 19 Feb 2024This morning Mrs Nichols talked to everyone about British Values and how we can show these values in school. She talked to us about democracy, the rules of law, mutual respect and individual liberty. Mrs Nichols shared a picture from this week’s Picture News which detailed the announcement from Coca-Cola that they are trialling removing labelling from their bottles and instead embossing details on them. This is in an attempt to reduce packaging. We discussed that us being able to make choices is a part of our Individual Liberty and what we could do to support reducing packaging in our day-to-day lives.

FARFIELD CHILDREN CAN have 100% attendance!
Fri 09 Feb 2024This week we held an Attendance Prize Draw. The names of every child in school who had been in on time, every day from Monday 5th-Friday 9th February were entered into the draw.
Congratulations to our attendance prize winners Isla-Rose and Franky-Joe who both received a selection of books for themselves and a shopping voucher for their family.

Today was our MATHS DAY and it's been MARVELLOUS!
The children and adults came to school dressed in numbers, spots, stripes, shapes, there was even a domino! All of children have taken part in a day full of fun maths activities. There have been timestable battles, problems to solve and puzzles to explore. The children have shown their excellent teamwork and problem solving skills throughout the day.
We would like to keep the maths going at home by sharing an app your child can use. As a school we follow White Rose Maths and you can download their 1 Minute Maths app for free. The app is great practise for children in all year groups. In early maths we really focus on developing the children’s subitising (being able to recognise how many of something without having to count them) with numbers up to 5. There are some lovely quick opportunities to practise this on the app. There's also addition, subtraction, multiplication and division with appropriate challenge for all children in school. Just 1 minute every school day on the app each week in the school year would be an extra 3 hours of maths practise for your child!
Thank you for all your support with our maths day. As it is also Children's Mental Health Week, the money donated today will be sent to 'Youth In Mind' in support of children's mental health.

FARFIELD CHILDREN CAN show an attitude of gratitude
Thu 08 Feb 2024This half term, through myHappymind, all children have developed their understanding of why gratitude matters and how you can develop gratitude as a habit.
Children have been learning the different ways to express gratitude and each class at Farfield now has a 'Wheel of Gratitude' where children can spin the wheel and express gratitude to themselves, others and for experiences!
There are some amazing examples of classroom displays where children are expressing what they are grateful for!
A special congratulations to Hela who Miss Mann chose as the winner of her very own Arabella.
Gratitude is key to wellbeing and resilience and we’re all about making it a habit!

FARFIELD CHILDREN CAN create celebration cards for Eid
Thu 08 Feb 2024From Nursery to Year 6, the children have been busy creating Eid cards for Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.
The Department of Children’s Services are launching a new competition for 2024 and have invited all the young people of Bradford to produce two images that can be used in celebration cards for the Council to be sent out during the two Eid celebrations in 2024.
Our best designs are being entered into the competition and we hope all those celebrating this April have a wonderful time!

Whole School Assembly - Our Voice Matters
Mon 05 Feb 2024This morning our whole school assembly was with Harriet. This week is Children’s Mental Health Week - the theme this year is ‘Our Voice Matters’. Harriet talked to us about how it is important to share our opinions, thoughts and feelings. She talked about how our voices matter and that we have the right to say how we’re feeling and express what we need - doing this can help us to feel better.
