  • FARFIELD CHILDREN CAN be Sparkly Stars and be awarded the ⭐GOLDEN STAR⭐!

    Fri 22 Mar 2024

All staff and visitors continue to nominate children to receive a 'Sparkly Star'. Children are nominated for our green star for being 'Ready', our red star for being 'Respectful' and our blue star for being 'Safe'. Each week, Mrs Nichols reads all of the nominations and chooses one Sparkly Star from EYs and KS1 and one from KS2...and sometimes she chooses more!

For those children who are awarded all three of the Sparkly Stars, they are given the extra special ⭐GOLDEN SPARKLY STAR⭐ in recognition of this amazing achievement. This term ⭐Amelia⭐ has been awarded her Golden Sparkly Star, she is only the second child to achieve this!

Congratulations to all of the children who have been nominated - those listed in the table pictured below.

  • FARFIELD CHILDREN CAN feedback to their teachers!

    Tue 19 Mar 2024

Today Mrs Gale gathered the Curriculum Crew to find out what they think helps them learn the best.

The Curriculum Crew looked at their working walls and reflected on what things supported their learning the most and what else they thought they needed. The voice of the children matters to their class teachers and this feedback will bring about change in their classrooms!

  • Whole School Assembly - Individual Liberty

    Mon 18 Mar 2024

In today's assembly, we talked about British Values. Recently, many families travelled to Glasgow for an event that claimed to channel the magic of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. However the the chocolate fountains, performances by Oompa Loompas and interactive experiences turned out to be rows of empty tables and walls of black fabric separating almost empty spaces. We talked about why the people who went may have been disappointed, and how others involved were impacted too. There are times when we will be excited and will be looking forward to something, but it may not be quite what we wanted or hoped it would be. We discussed that learning how to deal with disappointment is important and that our choices are a part of our Individual Liberty.

  • FARFIELD CHILDREN CAN donate to good causes

    Fri 15 Mar 2024

This Red Nose Day, children and staff came to school dressed in red. Thank you to everyone who donated today.

  • World Book Day 2024

    Fri 08 Mar 2024

World Book Day 2024 had a theme of Read Your Own Way. At Farfield, we celebrated with a bedtime story theme day. We dressed in pyjamas and brought in book buddies and blankets from home to make cosy reading spaces in our classrooms. Throughout the day we read lots of stories and took part in lots of 'bookish' activities. Our families joined us to share some special reading time and our class teachers swapped to share their favourite picture books with pupils they aren't usually able to share stories with. Our very popular book potato competition took place with all the entries displayed proudly on the library bus. Our fantastic winners (voted for by our Reading Ambassadors) were Leo (RG), Hannah (1G) and Lily (5S). There were some truly inspired creations!

This is what some of our families had to say about their storytime:

'It was lovely to be able to come and see Freddy read in school today. We had fun reading Freddy's favourite books from class. His reading is coming on very well with help from his teachers.' (Freddy's mum)

'This afternoon was fun. Benjamin enjoyed me meeting his friends and looking at books.' (Benjamin's mum)

'It was good to spend some one to one time with Esmee in school. We read lots of books together. I really enjoyed storytime with 2G - lovely warm welcoming class and lovely teachers. It was a really good afternoon.' (Esmee's mum)

'I really enjoyed spending time with Alice reading lots of books. It's nice to spend some one to one time with Alice.' (Alice's mum)

'I enjoyed the reading session today. Me and Haidar read The Very Hungry Caterpillar, one of Haidar's favourites. We also read the 3 Little Pigs and enjoyed building a straw house, where Haidar acted as the big bad wolf and huffed and puffed it down. Thank you for providing such a lovely environment for children and parents today.' (Haidar's mum)

'Millie and myself enjoyed this morning. We read 4 books - all new to both of use and Millie loved the books where we had to lift the flap up so I'm going to order her some similar books.' (Millie's mum)

'I loved the nursery reading group today. It was an absolute pleasure to attend. A good book, a teddy bear, a blanket and a snuggle with my little girl in the school setting, surrounded by her teachers and friends. Couldn't get any better! Thank you for a lovely morning.' (Neave's mum)

'It was great 👍. It was so lovely being able to spend some quality time with Jacob. I'd love to come into school again sometime for some other activities.' (Jacob's mum)

'I really enjoyed myself.' (Bradley's mum)

'I absolutely enjoyed coming, today it was so nice just to spend time with Amelia, you have a lovely classroom set up and I felt very welcomed. You have a lovely classroom set up and it was nice to see all the teachers; Mrs Brannan, Mrs Sykes and Miss Towler all spoke to us. Thank you for arranging it - I loved my time there.' (Amelia's mum)
