  • BRIGHT Assembly - High Hopes

    Wed 18 Mar 2026

In our BRIGHT assembly this week our theme was High Hopes. This story follows a racer pigeon called Gary who cannot fly. His High Hopes led him to adapt to his dreams of one day traveling, how he got there was not the most important thing but that he did in fact get there. We discussed that the true meaning of having High Hopes is more than just a passing wish; it is a belief that something really good will come true.

  • BRIGHT Assembly - Independence

    Wed 11 Mar 2026

In our BRIGHT assembly this week our theme was Independence. We shared the story of a tiny dinosaur and how he finds his inner strength and courage to independently go for help when his family are in trouble. He realises that his size is irrelevant and that his independence shines through when he manages to save the day using his quick thinking and resourcefulness.
We discussed what independence looks like in class and how it feels for different people in different situations and we talked about the importance of developing independence as we get older so that we can take responsibility for our own learning, actions and decisions.

  • Whole School Assembly - Resilience with Adam

    Mon 09 Mar 2026

This morning Adam came to speak to us in assembly. He chose players to take part in a computer game. The game started off easy with characters having to move across the screen but then obstacles were introduced. Adam talked to us about how sometimes we come across obstacles in life. To overcome these we can ask for help - in the game children used a ladder to get over a wall which was too high to climb. He talked about how it is important for us not to give up when things get difficult so that we don’t miss out on the good things in life. Adam explained that when computer games are easy, eventually they get boring to play and this can be the same in life - if things are always easy it stops being interesting to do. So, in the week ahead, see if you can challenge yourself in your learning and in your other interests.

  • 🌍📖World Book Day 2026📖🌍

    Fri 06 Mar 2026

We had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day 2026 at Farfield! World Book Day is always one of our favourite days of the year and this year was filled with creativity, stories and a wonderful sense of community.

Our school was full of excitement as children arrived dressed as their favourite book characters. From classic heroes to modern favourites, the costumes were amazing and it was incredibly difficult to choose our prize winners!

A real highlight of the day was welcoming families into school for special storytime sessions. It was lovely to see children and adults sharing books together and enjoying the magic of reading side by side.

The “Book in a Box” competition was hugely popular. We were blown away by the imagination and effort that went into the entries. There were so many wonderful creations, each carefully designed to represent a favourite story. The work and creativity that went into making them was truly inspiring. Our fantastic Reading Ambassadors had the tricky job of voting for the winners!

Children also spent time paired with a reading buddy from another class, sharing stories with younger or older pupils across the school. It was lovely to see children reading happily together, supporting each other and discovering new books.

Throughout the day, classes enjoyed a range of book-themed activities, including:

    • making their own bookmarks

    • designing book covers

    • creating story characters using paper plates

    • exploring and sharing their favourite books.

To top it all off, we were delighted to welcome back the pop-up book shop from the The Children's Book Project. Every child was able to choose a free book and bookmark to take home, alongside their World Book Day voucher and a special World Book Day book gifted by Farfield.

It was a joyful day celebrating the power of stories and the importance of reading.

And remember, at Farfield we know:
Farfield Children Can - and they can do it even better when they read! 📖
