  • Whole School Assembly - Elephant in my Kitchen

    Mon 30 Sep 2024

This morning in assembly, we listened to author Smriti Halls read her book, 'Elephant in my kitchen'. In the story, wild animals move into Rafi's house and he has to figure out a BIG PLAN to get them back to their own homes. A funny, silly and hugely topical picture book about the world's climate crisis. We talked about how this linked to our whole school book, 'There's a Rang-Tan in my bedroom' and what we can do at Farfield to save our planet.

You can watch Smriti read her story here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBmeOIrN39Y

  • Whole School Assembly - When good is bad

    Mon 23 Sep 2024

This morning, Adam (one of our Governors) visited to lead our assembly. He talked to us about how sometimes things we think are good can sometimes be bad. For example, water is really good for us but it isn't good when there is too much and it causes floods. This can also apply to our tongues - we can use them to say really kind things but sometimes, they can be used to say things that are unkind too. We discussed how important it is to use our words wisely and our tongue kindly.

  • Whole School Assembly - Dyslexia Awareness Week

    Mon 23 Sep 2024

This morning Mrs Atkinson spoke to us about how it feels to learn when you have dyslexia as soon it is Dyslexia Awareness Week. She explained what children with dyslexia might need to help them with their learning in class. She also talked about what we could do if we have a friend who has dyslexia: reminding them about what to do next, being patient and reading things aloud for them. Mrs Atkinson explained that we are all unique and having dyslexia is something that makes some people unique. We found out about successful and famous people who have dyslexia including Richard Branson and Holly Willhouby.

    Wed 11 Sep 2024

Today, after school, we welcomed our Farfield families to meet their children's new class teacher.

Lots of you visited to find out what your children will be learning this year and there was a buzz around the whole building.

Thank you so much for coming and we'll see you all soon for our first Parent's Evenings of the year on the 16th and 23rd of October.

  • FARFIELD CHILDREN CAN Save Our Planet

    Fri 06 Sep 2024

What an amazing start to the new year!

The children have been singing, drumming, experiencing the rainforest with the aid of VR, meeting some of the tiny creatures that live there......and a special visitor came to Farfield to share the story of his home!

What a feeling of utter amazement we have experienced meeting Fito the orangutan, Roger the sloth and the beautiful blue and gold macaw.

These experiences really helped bring our whole school book, 'There's a Rang-Tan in my bedroom' to life.

Here are just some of the things the children said:

'I really liked the insects because they were creepy and crawly. I liked the orangutan because he was really hairy. I felt sorry for him because he didn’t have his family or his home because it had be chopped down.' Daniel Y1P

'The organutan was definitely my favourite because it was so soft and I got to hug it and tell it something nice. I tickled its hand! We made a video using a green screen and we had to pretend we were being chased by animals!' Isla 1P

'I liked that the orangutan, it told us what was happening to his home so we could help.' Oakley 2R

'I enjoyed meeting Fito in the assembly. I liked finding about him. He was really big!' Arya 2R

'I liked finding out about the lives of orangutans and how we can help. Humans are cutting trees down and they have nowhere left to live.' Neriyah 3Y

'I liked the bit in the story when the orangutan messed the bedroom up! I liked being able to see the baby sloth. During our creatures visit I enjoyed seeing the cockroaches and their shiny shells.' Oakley 4H

'I liked the different creatures - there were lots of scary ones. My favourite was the African snail. It was huge and slimy.' Noor 4H

'I enjoyed the visit from Fito because when we saw him he was really furry. I loved looking at the scorpion because of its claws. The snail had over 200,000 teeth!' Lola 5B

'I enjoyed it when the sloth came to visit us in class - I put my fingers in his mouth and then wiped his slobber on Mr Khan! I enjoyed seeing all the creatures - I held them all. My favourites were the scorpion and tarantula but we didn’t hold those!' Ralph 5B

'I enjoyed the VR because it felt like we were flying and we were in the Amazon Rainforest. I saw a massive jaguar, ants and a sloth - it was a really big sloth. I enjoyed it when I got to hold the sloth because he felt really furry and comfy. I also enjoyed the creatures and holding a giant millipede: it felt really spiky when it was crawling on my hand.' Kyen 6G
