  • September Starter - 🐌What Wonderful Writing!🐌

    Fri 26 Sep 2025

This September, our whole school was inspired by 'My Path', a beautifully illustrated book by author and illustrator Jana Curll. Her imaginative maps sparked a wave of creativity across Farfield!

From Nursery to Year 6, each class explored the idea of a “path” in their own unique way. Our youngest pupils mapped out their journeys within the classroom, while our oldest students looked outward, charting paths that stretched across the whole of Yorkshire.

Our writing took inspiration from the book’s brave snail protagonist, who chooses to follow his own path in life - no matter the obstacles. Through this, pupils reflected on courage, individuality and the importance of forging one’s own way.

We were thrilled to receive a personal message from Jana herself, encouraging us to think about who we are and how we express ourselves. Farfield pupils truly rose to the challenge! The resulting artwork and writing were simply outstanding - vivid, thoughtful and full of heart.

When we shared photos of our snail themed September start with Jana, her response said it all:

“Oh my gosh! That is so amazing! What a wonderful job you've all done. I’m sure the kids were amazed!”

When we shared our writing displays with Jana, a further response showed she was equally as impressed:

"These look absolutely amazing! Congratulate all of the kids for me. They are super talented."

You can find Jana's work at Jana Curll Illustration

We hope you enjoy our work which is a wonderful celebration of creativity, self-expression and the unique paths we each take.

  • BRIGHT Assembly - Resilience

    Thu 25 Sep 2025

This week's story for our BRIGHT assembly follows Tilda as she finds her resilience in order to keep going when her world is turned upside down. All of a sudden, everything is topsy-turvy for Tilda, and nothing feels right. Things that were once easy seem incredibly challenging. Tilda has to discover a new way to approach her problems and believe in herself. We learnt that Tilda had to embrace a ‘can do’ approach to life to increase her resilience.

  • Whole School Assembly - 🍽🥪Our Lunchtime Responsibilities🥪🍽

    Mon 22 Sep 2025

In assembly this morning, Mrs Atkinson reminded us what our lunch times should be like. We talked about being respectful and polite and creating an enjoyable dinner time. We all agree we can work together to make lunchtimes better by lining up quickly, staying in our seat while we eat, talking quietly and clearing our own mess.

  • BRIGHT Assembly - Belief

    Fri 19 Sep 2025

Our first BRIGHT assembly focuses of the self belief of two different birds, Apollo and Chack. They both follow individual paths of discovery to learn about the lives of each other.

  • Whole School Assembly - 🙋‍♂️Why do we vote?🙋‍♀️

    Mon 15 Sep 2025

In assembly this morning Mrs Nichols talked to us about young people being able to vote at the age of 16. We discussed the things we vote for in school and about making informed decisions. We talked about how it made us feel to vote and what it might mean to us.

  • Whole School Assembly - 💜PURPLE PRIASE STAR💜

    Mon 08 Sep 2025

This morning Mrs Nichols awarded the very first PURPLE PRAISE SPARKLY STAR to Liara in Y6.

Last year Liara had the fantastic idea to have a Sparkly Star to recognise the achievements of children outside of school.

This is the second star created by one of our fabulous Farfield children - you make us very proud!

  • September Starter - 🐌Supersized Snail with Sand In Your Eye🐌

    Fri 05 Sep 2025

Over the past two days, we have had the absolute pleasure of working with Sand In Your Eye.

Their founder, Jamie, joined us to share his journey. He told us all about the opportunities he has said 'YES' to and the path that has taken him on from his local routes to the far off places he's travelled.

Jamie and his team helped us to create a fabulous piece of landart. Our supersized snail contains a goal, aspiration or dream of every single Farfield child.
