  • 🎭🌿The Secret Garden Comes to Farfield!🌿🎭

    Fri 11 Sep 2026

What a treat it was to welcome the M&M Theatre Company to Farfield for a very special performance of the classic children’s novel The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

The children were transported into the story and met Mary Lennox, who is sent to live with her mysterious and reclusive uncle. As Mary begins to explore her new surroundings, she discovers a secret garden and, along the way, makes new friends and learns to open her heart and love life.

The children were absolutely enthralled by the production, watching the story unfold right before their eyes. It was wonderful to see them so engaged with a classic piece of literature and experiencing the magic of live theatre right here at school.

Our Year 5 and Year 6 children were also lucky enough to take part in a post-show workshop. They had the opportunity to discover what happens behind the scenes, learning more about how a theatre production is created and brought to life.

A huge thank you to M&M Theatre Company for giving our children such a memorable experience. 🎭🌿

Watch this space… πŸ‘€ We would love to welcome the theatre back to Farfield for another exciting performance!

  • πŸ‰September Starter – The Dragons Came to Farfield!πŸ‰

    Fri 04 Sep 2026

What an unforgettable start to the new school year we have had at Farfield! Our September Starter theme, certainly got the children’s imaginations going from the moment they arrived!

On the first day back, the children discovered something very strange on the school drive… mysterious footprints! 🐾 As they explored the school, they spotted scaly dragon eggs hidden around the building. What could possibly be going on?

It wasn't long before we discovered the truth… dragons had come to Farfield! πŸ‰

We were very excited to meet Sol the dragon and his rather adorable friend, Roger the baby dragon. They certainly made our first few days back at school ones to remember!

    🎡 Dragon Music

Will and Steve from Marshalls School of Music joined us for a fantastic music session. We learned a dragon-themed song and even had a go at creating our own dragon percussion. There was plenty of noise, rhythm and, of course, lots of dragon fun!

    πŸ§ͺ Dragon Science

We were also joined by a very special scientist for an amazing dragon-themed science workshop. The children became scientists for the day and explored some wonderfully gooey and exciting experiments.

We made dragon toothpaste, created glow-in-the-dark dragon snot slime and were even introduced to… DRAGON FIRE! πŸ”₯πŸ‰

    🎨 Getting Creative

Our dragon adventure continued as we got creative. The children decorated dragon-themed pebbles to add to our Discovery Garden, creating a colourful collection of magical dragon stones.

We also created our very own handprints for a special dragon-themed surprise. We can't tell you too much just yet… watch this space! πŸ‘€πŸ‰

    πŸ“– Tell Me A Dragon

To top it all off, we came together as a whole school to enjoy the fantastic book that inspired our September Starter theme – Tell Me A Dragon by Jackie Morris.

The children were captivated by the beautiful words and illustrations and have been inspired to imagine, create and write about dragons of their own.

What a magical way to begin our new school year! We wonder where our dragon adventures will take us next… πŸ‰βœ¨

Keep watching this space – there may be more dragon surprises to come!
