  • Whole School Assembly

    Mon 25 Nov 2024

Today's assembly was about how our hopes and dreams can help us succeed. We found out about a young British climber - Adriana Brownlee - the youngest woman to reach the summit of the world's fourteen highest mountains. We talked about the difficulties she faced in order to achieve her dream and what goals we are working towards ourselves. We all have something we are working towards and it is our Individual Liberty to have the freedom to choose our own path in life and take responsibility for our choices.

We found out some interesting facts about the ancient Maya people as well as about discoveries from the past. We talked about how discoveries can change the world and their impact on the world at the time as well as now, and how people may not always agree about how they feel about these discoveries.

As this week is Anti-Bullying Week, Michael from KCU, came to talk to us about ‘Kindness, Compassion and Understanding’.

We also talked about how and when we show these qualities and why we should share them with everyone. Michael shared the KCU pledge with us where we all chose how to share kindness, compassion and understanding at home, in school and within our community.

  • Whole School Assembly - Firework Safety

    Mon 04 Nov 2024

This morning Mrs Nichols talked to us about Bonfire Night and the story behind it. She then shared the firework code so that we can enjoy fireworks safely.

    We were reminded that:
    Only adults should light fireworks
We should stand well back from bonfires
Sparklers should be held at a arm’s length (you should wear gloves and to make it easier to hold you can even stick it in a carrot to make a chunky handle)
You should never go back to a lit firework
Fireworks should be stored in METAL box which is not flammable
We should keep pets and animals safe because loud noises scare them
We should never throw or play with fireworks - they are not toys and are dangerous
Follow the firework code and stay safe on bonfire night!
