  • Cyber Bullying Awareness

    Mon 03 Oct 2022

PCSO Geoff Woodrow visited Years 5 and 6 this week to talk about cyber bullying.

He shared some facts and figures about online bullying, the impact online bullying can have and explained the laws and consequences of being charged with online bullying.
This was a great reminder to the children of what words can do to someone else and how they should report any hurtful comments someone may make to them.

  • CARNIVAL - 7th-9th September 2022

    Mon 12 Sep 2022

Farfield Primary & Nursery School launched 2022 with the book Charlie’s Magical Carnival by Marit Tornqvist. The new school year began with excitement, awe and wonder and lots of exciting activities. There were 6 large circus tents on the field and each one had a different element of the book inside.

We had a magician, junk percussion, circus skills, dance, birds of prey and the final tent housed a giant cake created and then shared by the children. Everyone made carnival masks and the whole school learnt the song ‘Try Everything’ by Shakira. Each class decorated a 3D elephant to represent each of the classes being different but that together they make Farfield!

  • Her Majesty The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

    Thu 26 May 2022

2022 marks the year that Her Majesty The Queen becomes the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service.

Today everyone at Farfield Primary & Nursery School joined millions of people in the UK and around the world to celebrate.

Cakes and biscuits were baked and decorated, trifle and fruit cocktail were prepared, all for our Jubilee Picnic. The children got creative designing Jubilee gowns, colouring flags, collaging and stitching crowns, making deely-boppers and drawing portraits. The decorations were hung and everyone joined in our red, white and blue themed party with games and music from the decades of Her Majesty The Queen's 70 year reign.

Here are just a small selection of photos from our celebrations...

    Fri 20 May 2022

After reading 'The Barnabus Project, Mrs Brannan challenged the children to create their own 'failed projects'.

Mrs Nichols and Mrs Bentley had the very difficult task of judging the entries! The overall winner was Amelia-Rose. Here you can see all of the winning entries with their 'failed projects'. Congratulations to Elissa, Logan, Millie, Ebony, Bobbie, Lewis and Noah. We can't wait to find out about the books you buy with your vouchers!

  • Starting the summer term with 'The Barnabus Project'

    Fri 13 May 2022

We began the summer term reading 'The Barnabus Project', a magical story by The Fan Brothers.

The book tells the story of Barnabus, he is part elephant and part mouse and as such, likes eating peanuts and cheese! Barnabus showed the children that in his world, perfection really means being true to yourself and your friends, it's a place where by following his dreams he found where he truly belonged.

This was the inspiration for our whole school writing project.

Listen to The Fan Brothers read 'The Barnabus Project' here.

  • World Book Day 2022

    Fri 04 Mar 2022

This year for World Book Day, Mrs Brannan set the children 2 challenges.

    1) To dress as a word

    2) The Extreme Reading Challenge

There were lots of imaginative costumes but the winners were Oliver C in reception as 'Heavy', Willow in year 1 as 'Thing 1' and Macie in year 5 as 'Float'.

There were also some fantastic entries to The Extreme Reading Challenge and Mrs Nichols had a hard time narrowing it down to just one winner. Eventually she chose Charlie in 3A who showcased his reading talents upside down - extreme indeed!!

In class, the children took part in lots of wonderful reading activities. From book tasting to recommendations - the children enjoyed all things books today!

  • TREE-mendous tree planting!

    Thu 03 Mar 2022

On Thursday 3rd March we had a tree-mendous opportunity to do some planting across school. This was part of Bradford Council's "Tree for Every Child" project which aims to plant 55,000 trees - the equivalent of one tree per primary school child - over a two year period.

First of all Miss Greenwood's Reception class helped to plant three large cherry trees along the drive. They learnt all about the root systems and had a chance to compare how the bark and soil felt before helping to heave them into position.

Then some children from Y4, 5 and 6 had the chance to plant a variety of young trees (or whips as we found out they are called before growing any sideway branches). They learnt how to safely use a spade and how best to plant the whips before putting hazel, willow, apple and silver birch trees at the top of the field.

Even though it was a rather wet and rainy afternoon, everyone had lots of fun and we look forward to seeing our new trees grow over the coming years.
