  • BRIGHT Assembly - Tolerance

    In today's BRIGHT assembly, we read 'Along Came a Different' by Tom McLaughlin. Through this thoughtful picture book, we explored what happened when groups of 'different' characters thought their way was the best way. This book is  shared the importance of tolerance and inclusion, it reminded us how to look beyond labels, appreciate diversity and understand  that our communities are stronger and happier when everyone is accepted for who they are.

  • BRIGHT Assembly - High Hopes

    In today's BRIGHT assembly, we read 'Leaf', the story of a polar bear who arrives unexpectedly in the woods. The other animals fear this unknown creature and avoid him and his habit of collecting leaves. All 'Leaf' wants to do is go home to his family. The story follows 'Leaf' on his journey of hope to get back home. Slowly the other animals overcome their fear of 'Leaf' and help him find his way.

    In assembly this morning, Mrs Nichols shared with us why we are supporting the local food banks. Ten years ago, over 1 million food parcels were given out in the UK. This has increased every year - particularly during lockdown. We discussed why people might need food parcels such as changes in circumstances.
    We are very grateful to our families for the donations collected today which will be delivered to our local food bank in the coming days - thank you for your generosity!

  • 💛Wearing Yellow for Mental Health💛

    Today we wore yellow to raise awareness of mental health. Thank you to everyone who bought a raffle ticket or made a donation. The money we raised will go towards improving our outdoor space because we know that spending time outdoors and exercising is beneficial to our mental health.

    In our BRIGHT assembly this week, we followed the story of Sulwe. Sulwe just wants to be beautiful and bright, like her mother and sister. A magical journey in the night sky opens her eyes and changes everything. As her self-esteem builds she realises that she can achieve anything she dreams.

  • Whole School Assembly - 💛🌍World Mental Health Day🌍💛

    Today we talked about World Mental Health Day 2025. We discussed what we can do to help our friends when they are feeling sad or worried. We also talked about how important it is to look after ourselves and to talk to a grown up if we are worried or need help. 

    On Friday we will wear yellow to help raise awareness for the very important cause. The money we raise from our non-uniform and raffle will go towards improving our outdoor space because we know that spending time outdoors and exercising is beneficial to our mental health.

  • BRIGHT Assembly - Independence

    The theme for this week’s BRIGHT assembly was independence and the book that the children listened to was ‘The Pandas Who Promised’. The story is about two red panda cubs, Popo and Ketu, who live happily with their mother. As the sisters grow, they promise Mama that they will always stay close to home. However, while cautious Popo is content to spend her days in the family's cosy treetop nest, bold Ketu dreams of excitement, exploration and her independence. We discussed the importance of responsible independence.

  • Whole School Assembly - ⭐😄🧠mHm GOLD🧠😄⭐

    This morning Mrs Bentley shared with us the fantastic news that we have been awarded the Gold myHappymind Award for our amazing learning in our MyHappyMind sessions!

    As a reward for all of our hard work, all children received a gold mHm Fred badge to wear with pride!

     

    myHappymind has also been awarded the King’s Award for Enterprise. This is fantastic news for us in school and the mHm team who support us.

    Miss Mann also introduced our Happiness Heroes for this year: Lolah, Ernie-Joe, Somto, Alice, Zainab, Isabelle, Oakley, Kamari and Matthew. They will be there for support their peers and champion mHm throughout our school community!
